Pitlochry in Bloom's Events Diary 2008


Here is our diary of commitments & events for the coming season.
We will need to raise something in the region of £10,000 again in 2008 if we are to maintain our high standards. We would be delighted to hear from anyone who would be willing to host an event for us. Please help and support us when ever you can.


Pitlochry in Bloom Annual General Meeting was held on March 18th 2008 at Green Park Hotel. Office Bearers elected:

Easter Coffee Morning at Bells Blair Athol Distillery Saturday 22nd March Baskets

Thank you to all our 2008 KNITTERS, we raised £605 towards the summer baskets.


April is National Spring Clean Week - see town notice board for further information about where and when the clean-ups will take place. Thankyou to Hope 2008, an incredible area has been litterpicked and the CC are going out in May also.


Monday 14th April - Friday 2nd May 2008 Beautiful Scotland - Unannounced Judging of the Town, over one day in the period indicated.

This was cancelled due to budget restraints by beautifulScotland.


Saturday 26th April - Take a Pride in Perthshire Annual General Meeting at the Isles of Skye Hotel, Perth.

Saturday 21st June Green Park Coffee Morning
The annual Coffee Morning will be held on 21st June, with the generous sponsorship of the McMenemie family. Tickets priced at £4.50 at the door or from Committee members now, Secretary Mary is on 470051. Plant stall, home-made jams, home baking, fresh bread & raffle. A superb spread of cakes and savouries with tea & coffee in the beautiful setting of the Green Park Hotel.

We are all busy making jams with the new season fruits and marmelades with a splash of local whisky, raffle prizes are rolling in a treat, so see you there, just pray for a nice, sunny morning for us all.

Thrift Shop -We hope to hold our annual Thrift Shop in the summer. We need to find an empty shop first!

Daily 10am to 4pm.

All proceeds to Pitlochry in Bloom, Donations gratefully received.

 


Beautiful Scotland Regional Judging - August. Date tbc.

Take A Pride in Perthshire Local Judging Date tbc.


Monday 30 July - Friday 1st August

Judging of local Pitlochry in Bloom Competition. Judging will take place throughout the week coinciding with the visit by the judges for the Regional Judging.


Secret Gardens Day Sunday 3rd August

11 am till 5.30pm.


Pimms served in the Marquee at the Atholl Palace. Admission by programme, these will be available from Tourist Information Centre from mid July onwards. Price £4.00


Bowling Club Quiz Night - mid August
Pitlochry Bowling Club - Tickets priced at £4
To include supper. we also hold a raffle. Teams of four compete.

Pitlochry Highland Games - Saturday 13th September 2008
We will be there manning a stall selling strawberries & cream and popcorn. Come along and support us. See you there!


22nd September - Pitlochry in Bloom Local Awards Presentation & 15th Anniversary Celebration. For local results see monthly newsletter.


17th September - Beautiful Scotland Awards held in Brunton Halls, Musselburgh.


17 October - 2 November 2008 - Pitlochry Autumn Festival and the Enchanted Forest and from the 24th Perthshire Amber with Dougie MacLean & guests. October sees the "Silver Branch" - Scottish Story Telling Event at the Pitlochry Autumn Festival. This event is being run by Pitlochry in Bloom funded by PIB, Green Park, Atholl Palace and various sponsors. Nightly storytelling from Claire Hewitt in the Magical Yurt in the Hallowe'en Marquee in Pitlochry town centre. Tickets can be pre-booked daily at Fishers Hotel (£1 booking fee). Sessions begin at 5.30pm and run half hourly until 8.30pm. For full information see www.pitlochryautumnfestival.co.uk


December Christmas Coffee Morning at Bells Blair Athol Distillery. Santa and his Reindeer Parade along Atholl Road. Mrs Christmas will be Storytelling for the children.
